mAIN OBJECTIVES

  • To study the efficacy of Joint Core® (Natural egg shell membrane) (Muttai Jow Complex ® ) 400 mg + ABKACORE® Boswellia serrata (30%AKBA) 90 mg + CUMINCORE® (Curcumin extract 96%) 10 mg) compared to Jointace DN (Glucosamine 750 mg + Diacerein 50 mg + msm 250 mg) in osteoarthritis patients.

  • To assess the safety and tolerability of Joint Core ® (Natural egg shell membrane (Muttai Jow Complex ® ) ) 400 mg + ABKACORE ® Boswellia serrata (30%AKBA) 90 mg + CUMINCORE ® (Curcumin extract 96%) 10 mg) by monitoring the occurrence of any adverse effects by clinical and laboratory evaluation.

 

METHODOLOGY

Participants were then randomized into two groups with 25 in each group.
Arm 1: Participants with osteoarthritis knee - one tablet of Joint Core thrice daily orally for 12 weeks
Arm 2: Participants with osteoarthritis knee - one tablet of Jointace DN twice daily orally for 12 weeks
 

PRIMARY OUT COME MEASURE

  1. Change from baseline to 12 weeks in knee pain intensity measured by Pain VAS Scale(0-100 mm)

  2. Change From Baseline to 12 Weeks in the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) Pain Subscale.

  3. Changes from base line to 12 weeks in following laboratory parameter(s):
    *Hs-C Reactive Protein*ESR*Fibrinogen

  4. Change in Baseline to 12 Weeks in Patient's Global Assessment of Osteoarthritis.

  5. Number of Participants With a Response Rate Measured by the Outcome Measures for Rheumatology Committee and Osteoarthritis Research Society International Standing Committee for Clinical Trials Response Criteria Initiative (OMERACT-OARSI).

  6. Changes from base line to 12 weeks in Quality of life- Questionnaires (Short Form Health-12 ).

  • Pain management is much better and early with Joint Core®  as per the comparative data on PAIN VAS SCALE, WOMAC PAIN SUB SCALE, GLOBAL ASSESMENT ON IMPROVEMENTS ON OSTEO ARTHRITIS SCORE, OMERACT-OARSI.   • The first line pharmacological therapy for Osteoarthritis consists of topical or oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) which only provide symptomatic pain relief and it is associated with serious life time risk after prolonged use. However continuous usage of NSAIDs can increase the chance of heart attack or stroke with higher doses or with long-term use.
